“B” PROJECTS

STA-LAS-B2

If you are looking at this page, then you are thinking about trying to earn an “A” or “B” grade in AST 101.  Good!

To earn a “B” (and to be eligible to earn an “A”) in AST 101 you must be eligible to earn a “C” grade, and then in addition you must complete four of the “B” projects listed here.  These projects are intended to give you additional exposure to the world of astronomy.  They also allow you to follow your own interests to some extent.  One of those projects must be the observatory visit project.  The other three are of your choosing.  You may turn in “B” projects only if you are currently eligible to earn a “C” grade.  If you are not, you must get caught up for the “C” grade (via make-ups) before turning in “B” projects.

In all cases, to receive credit for completing a project the project must be completed properly.  If a project is not properly completed, it will be returned to you for proper completion.  There are no “grades” on these projects—they simply must be completed properly or they will be returned.

Completed properly means:

·         Everything asked for in the project is completed.

·         Work is organized and neat.

·         Written work is typed.

·         The word length minimum stated for the project is met.

·         Written work uses proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. as is suitable for college-level work.

B Project due dates:

1st Project should be turned in by
Week 5 (it may be turned in later, however)

2nd Project should be turned in by Week 8 (it may be turned in later, however)
3rd Project should be turned in by
Week 11 (it may be turned in later, however)
4th Project should be turned in by
Week 13

After Week 12 you may turn in a maximum of two B Projects.  (B students do not get that far behind on their work—and, the professor cannot properly review so many projects at once.)
